NOVEMBER 28 - DECEMBER 4, 2006

ANGEL RODRIGUEZ (dir: Jim McKay, Not Rated) – Rachel Griffiths from SIX FEET UNDER plays mentor to a troubled inner city youth in this made for HBO film. THE ANT BULLY (dir: John A. Davis, PG) – Rememeber when CGI films started coming out and each new TOY STORY or MONSTERS INC. was its own exciting event? Well, inevitably, Hollywood has finally unleashed a glut of copycats so we don’t seem to go a single week without having to deal with a BARNYARD, CHICKEN LITTLE or THE WILD. Forget this and rent MONSTER HOUSE instead.
CLERKS II (dir: Kevin Smith, R) – After bombing out completely in Hollywood, Kevin Smith runs for cover and tries to please his hardcore fans with this return to his lowbrow roots. The problem is kids nowadays have JACKASS and BORAT to satisfy their need for shock comedy. You’re a dinosaur, Kevin. DANE COOK: VICIOUS CIRCLE (dir: Dane Cook, Not Rated) – Dane Cook is not funny. And if you think he is then you’re not funny either.
OTOMO (dir: Frieder Schlaich, Not Rated) – An African immigrant battles prejudice around every corner in Stuttgart, Germany in this fact based drama. ^ROLLING FAMILY (dir: Pablo Trapero, Not Rated) – When an Argentinean grandmother is invited to be the matron of honor at a wedding, she brings an odd assortment of family and friends along in this warm and vivacious road movie.
SEE NO EVIL (dir: Gregory Dark, R) – Be warned. World Wrestling Entertainment has formed a film company in order to produce low-budget genre films for their wrestlers to star in. This grindcore dicer stars Kane, who is apparently the “scary” wrestler. *SUPERMAN RETURNS (dir: Bryan Singer, PG-13) – In this satisfyingly traditional update of the least hip superhero going, Kevin Spacey has a blast as Lex Luthor, Parker Posey’s hair is really out of control and that new kid makes no real impression except that he looks a spooky amount like Christopher Reeve.
