NEW
MOVIES! MAY 4 - MAY 10, 2010
ALTERING CONCLUSIONS (dir: Derek Brigham / Leo
Lunser, Unrated) – So
fresh it can't even be found listed on the IMDB yet, this horror
flick is straight out of Maine and filled with buckets of gore. |
THE BLUE TOOTH VIRGIN (dir: Russell Brown, R) – Two
friends find their relationship put to the test when one of them is
a little too honest in his appraisal of the other's screenwriting
ability in this micro-budget indie. |
THE DUKES (dir: Robert
Davi, PG-13) – My
favorite badly pockmarked actor, Robert Davi, makes his directorial
debut with this story of an over the hill doo-wop group. Oh, and
Edward James Olmos, I like you a lot too. Nothing personal. But you
weren't in THE GOONIES and SHOWGIRLS. |
GODSPEED (dir: Robert
Saitzyk, Not Rated) – A
preacher has his faith tested when his family is killed, but quickly
plots vengeance. It's a religious DEATH WISH set in Alaska! |
LEAP YEAR (dir: Anand Tucker, PG) – Man,
I really like Amy Adams. Which is why it's a bummer to see her
starring in maybe the most average, predictable romantic comedy of
all time. |
NINE (dir: Rob Marshall, PG-13) – I
don't know what can be said about a movie that stars Daniel Day
Lewis, Penelope Cruz and Sophia Loren but all the positive notices
went to Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas. |
PREACHER'S KID (dir: Stan Foster, PG-13) – Do
you love faith-based tales of hope as much as I do? Then sink your
teeth into this inspiring tale of a young girl who faces some sort
of adversity and, rather than giving up, calls on her faith to get
her through that darn hardship and makes all of her dreams come
true. |
^TETRO (dir: Francis Ford Coppola, R) – Francis
Ford Coppola returns with a low key effort about estranged brothers
in Buenos Aires. Terrifyingly, one of them is played by Vincent
Gallo. |
TOOTH FAIRY (dir: Michael
Lembeck, PG) – Poor
The Rock. He's really painted himself into a corner with all these
kiddie movies he's doing. Take the money, The Rock. But invest it
wisely or you'll be performing magic shows at Chuck E. Cheese soon. |
WILLIAM KUNSTLER: DISTURBING THE UNIVERSE (dir: Emily Kunstler / Sarah
Kunstler, Not Rated) – The
most flamboyant and incendiary lawyer of all time finally gets a
documentary in his honor. He defended everyone from the Chicago
Seven to the Attica rioters and was also a board member of the ACLU.
He stayed controversial until the end. He was defending the people
accused of trying to blow up the World Trade Center in 1993 when he
died at age 76. |
