CASABLANCA
(dir: Michael Curtiz, Not Rated) - Michelle says, "CASABLANCA
is a great movie about love gone wrong against romantic settings –
Paris, World War II, and a Moroccan city. Bart says it’ll get your
kids into black and white films if they're resistant, but if they
don’t have 102 minutes to spare, they can always watch the Bart
& Greg’s commercial based on the famous final parting
scene between Bogey and Ingrid. They’ll get that famous line about
beautiful friendships and everything." |

RANDOM
HARVEST (dir: Mervyn
LeRoy, Not Rated) - Bart says, "Greer Garson tends to
get her due because people love her as MRS. MINIVER, but Ronald
Colman, ever the cultured gentleman, gets unfairly overlooked as one
of the great stars of the silver screen - as charismatic as a Clark
Gable or a Cary Grant, if you ask me. He's probably at his best in
this romantic tear-jerker about a shell-shocked WWI vet with amnesia
and the woman who won't stop loving him, even though he doesn't
remember her. Sure, the plot's kind of absurd, but I promise you'll
get sucked in by this really well-made piece of Hollywood
gloss." |
